2010/11
I led a weekly Youth Theatre workshop in Springburn for Toonspeak Young People’s Theatre involving games, character development, improvisations and termly theatre trips. Over the winter term the class also devised an original performance for North Glasgow Arts and Regeneration Network’s Carnival of Winter Things, which took place at the end of January. Their performance, Scrudge, was a modern-day reworking of the classic Scrooge, transported in to the 21st Century streets of Springburn, and included some seasonal songs and a few jokes.
In the run up to Christmas, I also had the opportunity to work with Toonspeak participants in some additional workshops to develop their directing and design skills.
2011/12
This academic year, I shall be leading weekly workshops in Blackhill, taster workshops in Drumchapel and a new project in Townhead (a partnership arts projects between Toonspeak, Theatre Modo and Depot Arts, exploring drama, circus skills and urban arts).
