My name is Heather Cassidy and I am a Freelance Theatre Practitioner based in Glasgow. In 2003, I graduated with an M.A. (Honours) Degree in Theatre Studies and English Literature from the University of Glasgow, and then in 2007, I was awarded a full scholarship from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (formerly RSAMD), to study for a Masters in Arts in Social Contexts. I graduated with Merit in November 2008.
Over the last eight years, I have worked extensively across Scotland with many of our leading arts organisations and theatre companies, in a variety of roles including Drama Artist, Education Officer, Workshop Facilitator, Director, Storyteller, Performer, Tour Programmer and Project Administrator/Coordinator.
My work spans nurseries, primary and secondary schools, youth theatre, community groups and charities, and this has seen me working with mums and babies as young as seven-weeks old right through to first-time performers at the grand age of seventy-six.
To date, I have delivered projects with over 500 schools, covering 31 out of Scotland's 32 local authorities.
In storytelling and performance, I relish working in a diverse mix of environments, from conventional theatre spaces to more unusual settings, which so far have included a sand-filled-barn-with-a-view, a football stadium, local parks, a London street party, and one rainy windswept mountain.
